A License to Live? Blowing the Myth For anyone who has engaged themselves in a study of Scientology in the last decade or two - you may have noticed that there was a certain proclivity towards CONTROL and LICENSING. One may have felt that the freedom to simply BE a Scientologist and DO what a Scientologist would or could DO with the knowledge and skills was being marginalized by an attitude that you should do CERTAIN things and a that you should do them with the aim of getting kudo's, statistics, building "ideal orgs" and getting success stories that you can report back to others about. In other words, marginalizing your activities to those things which are within the channels of mandated activities of current Church hierarchy - especially those activities that would give them "statistics" and "good news" to announce at events - things such as donations, breakthroughs into new countries or areas, etc.
We have to declare a new age of Scientology here and now. This is not a new message. Others have said it - but I am reaffirming it from my standpoint. Scientology is for EVERYONE to use. We want the principles and truths of this subject to permeate the world. It isn't important to do things that are "popular" or "wanted" - that is asking for a license to live. If you need to be acknowledged for doing things as a Scientologist then you missed the point. Scientology is part of life. Use it. Just USE it. Audit people. Sort out their problems small or large. Be a friend to the world. Whatever you do - YOU have total license to USE Scientology however you see fit - as long as you keep it as Scientology. You do not need an approval from someone else. You don't need to report "stats" or "successes". Let's stop feeding David Miscavige's propaganda machine and let's start making a better world because we WANT to and because WE own Scientology. It is OUR Scientology.
LRH wanted it to be free - he wanted it used - and the purpose was to better conditions in the world - not to convert everyone into being Scientologists. A cleared planet does not mean a planet where everyone is a card carrying Scientologist. It means just that - CLEARED of the fourth dynamic engram, and able to move on to becoming a new, dynamic and free culture - and one where people will - in due course - probably find their way to Scientology materials anyhow. But the purpose is to inject and imbue the world with the truth, the simple and workable techniques and to give the people around us an insight into and a means of improving their conditions - and eventually a world where freedom of spirituality will begin to dominate over the game as we know it.
By definition a license means - permission to act - and OTs don't ask for permission from this universe - they just do it. That has been the myth - perpetuated by current Scientology administration - that you need their permission to be a Scientologist. You don't. That is the very trap we are trying to free everyone from. We don't need to agree with the physical universe and the established "rules". And certainly - we do not need Scientology becoming another "religion" that holds people in the fold to control them. We need FREE BEINGS.
The first step to freeing a being is to free them of the idea that they are slaves - that they need a license to exist. We've all read enough of LRH materials to achieve that step now.
Let's make a better world - and let's mark 2010 as the point when we truly launched Scientology into society.
The only statistic that will truly matter in the end will be reflected in a changed world - and believe me - you'll see it. That's what the game is really all about - not the myth currently being fed to us by the propaganda machine coming out of David Miscavige's office. Written by Outside the Box

That's the case with Narconon, but the trademark has such negative value at this point that they have put up dozens of "referral" drug rehab websites that make no direct mention of Narconon.
That isn't the case with WISE at all. Some members may get some referral business, but many just pay fees because of coercion or outright ethics threats.
In the French trial last June, Jean-Pierre Brard, a deputy in France's parliament, used an interesting metaphor: "The way cults operate is like a drainage system.
“You don’t see the drainage system, but it functions very well, and you can’t see where all those little drainpipes end up but in any case they go somewhere – and it's the same with Scientology.”
Well put :-)
I was using ARC long before I ever knew that is was called ARC. But there came a time when I felt that if I was going to tell anyone about ARC, then I would first have to go through the appropriate terminals to get permission. And, of course, any activity such as this would have to have a stat and a report of stats connected to it. Yeah, it got to the point where Scn could not be taken out of the building unless, you paid dearly.
Excerpt: "To lay down a big plan for Scientologists and say, 'This is the organization and this is what we are going to do: steps one, two, three ...' is saying that none of you have a right to think or plan. The only thing we can do inside Scientology is hold the communication lines of Scientology and its service in an orderly state. And we can keep the show on the road. But this is an inside perimeter."

Note: I first read this PL in 84' and at a time where, with each passing day, more and more control was being levelled against the Scn field, this comm from LRH was what aligned to. Not the other.
